Florence (Trapp) Yoo, 91 ,widower of the late I. Joseph Yoo, of Coventry, passed away, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Living Center of WIndham. She was born June 8, 1924 in Vernon to the late Donald and Florence Trapp. Florence was very proud of her nursing background. She graduated St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford as an RN. She was in the Nurse Corps of 1943 during WWII and supervised Fox Nursing Home in Tolland, CT before retiring in 1988. She held a position on the board for ARC and was involved in Easter Seals fighting for the rights of the handicapped and disabled. Florence had a zest. When her own children came along, Flo didn’t stop. Her children had everything offered to them that other children did. Handicapped was just a word to Flo and her children’s progress proved it. Many trips were taken with her children to see the Boston Red Sox. Nothing stopped Flo. She is brightening up heaven just as she brightened up earth. She is survived by her son Joseph of Tolland; her sister Agnes LaFlamme of Enfield; her nieces Susan LaFlamme of Enfield, Linda Goff of Vernon; her nephew Ray Griffin of Stafford; her brother Thomas Trapp of Storrs; her granddaughters, Cecelia of AL, Maria of FL, ; her grandson Joseph of FL; dear family friend Judy E. and her entire family of Columbia who has been at Flo’s side for many years; her caregiver, Sharon, longtime friends Jan of MA and Frank and Dot of TN; and many other friends and family whom she adored during her 91 years of life. She was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Ann in 2014, 2 sisters and one brother. The Family wishes to thank the management teams and many caregivers from A Caring Hand of Vernon and St. Joseph’s Living Center of Windham for their support and comfort they provided Florence and her family.
