Richard K. Bennett, 82, of Vernon was reunited with his wife Joyce Bennett on Monday, October 26, 2015. He was born May 26, 1933 in Arlington, NJ. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He met and married the love of his life, Joyce on September 22, 1956. They moved to CT where he worked for the Rockville Police and then he became employed by and retired from Travelers Insurance as an electrician. He enjoyed entertaining the children, especially on Halloween dressing up as a clown. He was very active in Boy scouts, creating Troop 814. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Vernon, where he was very active in the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He is survived by his son, John Bennett and his family of Old Saybrook; and his nephews, Bryan Kielbania and his wife Margaret and their family of Storrs and Mickey Kielbania and his wife Mary and their family of Melbourne, FL. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 10:30-11:30 AM on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm St. Rockville, CT 06066. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Tpke. (Rte. 30) Vernon, CT 06066. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon.
