Robert W. Rodier, 86, of Ellington, beloved husband of Janet Ballard Rodier,went to be with the Lordon Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born September 29, 1929 in Worcester, MA, son of the late A. Joseph and Mary (Keniry) Rodier. He spent his formative years in Oxford, MA, and he was a proud graduate of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and had a long, successful career as an aerospace engineer. He worked for the U.S Army and the U.S. Air Force, Bell Helicopter, North American Aviation, Rockwell International, and Pioneer International. His significant projects included Apollo, the Space Shuttle, and the B-1 Bomber. Robert was active in charitable work, including the Catholic Prison Ministry and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed participating in and watching all kinds of sports, and loved cars and auto racing. Besides his wife, Robert is survived by brothers Herbert and Louis; sisters Marie (Cotter) and Ruth (Gilmartin);sisters-in-law Beatrice and Barbara; sons Stephen and wife Mariangeli (Zerbi) and Louis and wife Mary (Coleman); daughters Denise and husband Ted (Annelli), Lisa and husband Christopher (Yun), and Christine and husband Carl (Twigg); and grandchildren Alicia, Nicole, Liana, Kurt, Elizabeth, Daniel, Alexandre, and Nathalie. Robert was predeceased bybrothers Thomas and Richard, and sister Nancy (Curtis). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT 06066. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Felician Adult Day Care, 1333 Enfield St, Enfield, CT 06082.
