Obituary for Arlene C. Grochowski (Czarzasty)

Arlene Judith (Czarzasty) Grochowski, 82, beloved wife of Terrence Grochowski, died peacefully on February 13, 2016 at Vernon Manor. She was born in Waterbury, CT only daughter of the late Carl Czarzasty & Sophie (Nizelski) Czarzasty Musto. Arlene leaves behind her devoted husband of 59 years Terrence Grochowski as well as her sons Paul Grochowski & his wife Ellen, Mark Grochowski & and his wife Barbara, Kurt Grochowski & his wife Christine, and her daughter Ann Bloniarz & her husband Christopher. Arlene also leaves and was loved by her grandchildren Michael & Steven Bloniarz, Mae & Ryan Grochowski, Therese Grochowski and Matthew Grochowski. Arlene was salutatorian of her graduating high school class at Crosby High School in Waterbury. Arlene attended UConn and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at the Visiting Nurses Association in Vernon and as a 2nd grade teacher at Vernon Elementary School. Afterwards Arlene gave up her career to raise her children. Arlene attended UConn for a second time and received her Master of Science in Gerontology. From there she worked at Vernon Manor for several years and at Connecticut Community Care. Arlene was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Rockville, CT. Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, February 19, from 5 – 7 pm at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street in Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February, 20, 2016 at St. Joseph Church, 33 West Street in Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville. In lieu of flowers please request a Mass in Arlene’s name at St. Joseph Church. For online condolences please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
