FITZGERALD, Donald F. On August 16, 2016 Donald Fitzgerald, age 86, passed away in Broad Brook, CT surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in West Haven, CT on June 18, 1930. He was the son of John and Irene Fitzgerald. Don was a hardworking, devoted family man. He graduated from West Haven High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an electrician for the Hamden Board of Education and was a member of the I.B.E.W. for over 50 years. He loved sports, especially baseball. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and UConn women’s basketball. He and his wife, Ann Fitzgerald married in 1955 and they were a loving couple for 61 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Donna (Eddy) Huppe of South Windsor and Lynne (Philip) Wing of Ellington and one son, David (Lisa) Fitzgerald of Ellington. He leaves behind his wife, Ann Fitzgerald, his two children, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lynne Wing and his brothers, John “Jack” Fitzgerald and Raymond Fitzgerald. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT 06088. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Philip’s Church, 150 S Main St., East Windsor. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington.
