Obituary for Donald R. Pomeroy

Donald Pomeroy, 86, of East Windsor, beloved husband of 66 years to Agnes (Cadder) Pomeroy passed away Monday, September 5, 2016. He was born July 4, 1930 in Wesfield, MA, the son of the late Fred Winfield and Freda (Frez) Pomeroy. He served in the United States armed forces during the Korean War. He was a lifelong Teamsters Union member and Red Sox Fan. He worked for the A&P Tea Co. After retirement he owned and operated the Scantic River Kennels where he trained award winning hunting dogs. He shared his love of music with his children, who all continue to perform today. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Thelma and Peter Putriment of Cobleskill, NY, Fred and JeanMarie Pomeroy of Granby, Joseph Pomeroy and Jennifer Locke of East Windsor, Robert and Korine Pomeroy of Somers, Jeannie and Jere Murphy of East Windsor, and Samuel Pomeroy and Danielle Frodyma of Colrain, MA; his sisters, Ruth Bancroft of East Windsor, Marion Smith of Enfield and Thelma Twarz of Stafford; his grandchildren, Jean Stabinski and her husband Alex, Peter L. Putriment, Louis Putriment (Megan Putnam), Helen Putriment (Ronnie Romeyn), Donald Pomeroy , Valerie Pomeroy, Daniel Pomeroy, Kristin Pomeroy (Seth Mead), Thomas Pomeroy (Cat Hammel), Kaitlyn Reopell and her husband Jamie, Kelsey-Ann Pomeroy (Conor Belanger), Ryan Murphy, Samuel Maher and his wife Sabrina (Mastroianni) Carly Maher and Nathaniel Murphy; his great grandchildren, Alexander, Viktor and Jospeh Stabinski and Elizabeth L. Putriment; his nephew, Leonard Smith and his wife Carmen, Sara Quesnel and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Donald Pomeroy and his siblings, Louise Haseltine and Fred Winfield Pomeroy. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 9 AM to 12 Noon on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT 06088.
