Obituary for Frederick Bilow

Frederick  Bilow
Frederick (Poppy) Bilow, 85, of Tolland, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He was born on September 21, 1931 in Rockville, son of the late Samuel and Anna (Kaluska) Bilow. He loved talking everyday with his sister Rose, whom he loved very much. Frederick was a very ambitious man. He graduated Cheney Tech as a carpenter and he built his first house when he was 17. He started Bilow Builders Inc. and worked 50 years building houses in the Tolland County. He held Christmas parties every year at the “warehouse” for all of his employees and friends. He served in the US Army as an Arms Specialist in the Korean Conflict where he received the good conduct medal and the national defense medal. He was a lifetime member of the Italian Social Club, 30 years with the Rockville Fire Department Fitch Comp., EQ-441, on the Board of Rockville town council, a lifetime member of the Rockville exchange club, and a member of the Board of Directors for People’s Bank. Frederick was an avid deep sea fisherman, hunter, and could do anything with a hammer and nails. He is survived by his loving companion and best friend of 37 years Rosemary Simpson of Tolland, his sister Rose Bilow of Ocala, FL, his four children Stephen Bilow and Judy of Woodstock, Paul Bilow and his wife Amy of Port Orange, FL, Parker Babin of Tolland, and Lisa Cardini of Coventry; his grandchildren Paul Jr., Russel, Andrew, Amber, Lanny, Tyler; great grandchildren, Ayden and Landyn, his special nephew Devin, and his beloved cat Green eyes. He was predeceased by his brothers Alexander and John. Relatives and friends may join the family 3-5 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Funeral Home Service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 3, 2016. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
