Alexander A. "Alex"  Chavez
Alexander “Alex” A. Chavez passed away on Monday November 28, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was born February 12, 1971 in Springfield, MA to Jose and Maria (Rodriguez) Chavez. Alex worked for the Hartford Parking Authority until 2011. He enjoyed spending time boating, fishing and hunting with his father and friends. Alex was an avid sports fan. He loved the Miami Dolphins and Boston Red Sox. Back in the day he was also a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers. Alex also played Hockey in school. He loved a good game of cribbage. Family was everything to him and his daughter was his little princess. Any time Alex would enter a room, he would light it up with his beautiful smile. Besides his parents, Alex is survived by his wife Erica (Thompson) Chavez; his daughter Gabriela; his brother Richard and his wife Eileen and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his grandmother, Frances (Paquita) Garcia, his nephew, Thomas Chavez, nephew and godson, Brandon Chavez and niece, Madison Spanilo. Alex was predeceased by his grandparents, Manuel J. Rodriguez, and Joseph & Isabel Chavez. Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 4 – 7 pm at Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT. A funeral procession will form by 9:15 am, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the funeral home to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the: Alex Chavez Memorial Fund c/o United Bank, Attn: Gina Fusick, 1325 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
