Joan Ann Sweet (Nichols)
Joan Ann Nichols (Sweet) age 66 of Vernon Ct. passed away at Hartford Hospital on April 13, 2017. She was one of triplet daughters born May 12, 1950 in West Kings Memorial Hospital Berwick Nova Scotia, Canada. She was the beloved daughter of Garth and the late Shirley (Lutz) Nichols of Willington, Ct. She grew up in Willington. Joan graduated from the School of Nursing in Meriden Ct. as a Registered Nurse in 1971, and worked at Rockville Hospital for many years. After Rockville Hospital she worked for a Home Care Company throughout Ct. and MA. performing home IV Therapy for patients. She was frequently at the bedside of patients including very ill children and was known to go out at night to deliver Teddy Bears to some of her young patients. She was very dedicated to her career. Joan retired in 2013. She loved spending time with family and friends, dancing, reading and assisting everyone she knew with their medical care. Joan was very cheery and made people laugh. A person you could always count on. Very dedicated to her family. Her mother (Shirley) who had Alzheimer's was able to stay at home until she passed away because of Joan and her great medical knowledge and team effort by her father ( Garth ) , sister Janet and the rest of the family. Windham, Jean (husband Jonathan Tyler) of Norwich, brother Eric (wife Linda Nichols) of Willington, six nephews and nieces Mathew, Shaun and Kristin Tellier, Kimberly Tyler, Amanda Nichols (Bradley), and Ryan Nichols; and great nieces and nephews, Ben, Savannah, Allyssa and Timothy Tellier, Isaiah and Victor Martinez.
