Obituary for Herman M. Frechette

Herman M. Frechette
On Thursday, May 11, 2017, Herman M. Frechette passed peacefully away at St. Francis Hospital, in Hartford, Connecticut, with family by his side. For the past four years, Herman had been living with and in care of his loving daughter, Ann Brierley, her husband Sean, and children Katherine, Trevor, and Sydney. He will be sorely missed.

Herm was born on March 31, 1934, in Madawaska, Maine, and moved to Connecticut where he worked at the family paint store in Manchester and later established a successful real-estate business in South Windsor and Coventry. Many friends and family would be surprised to learn Herman was in the army during the Korean conflict, as a paratrooper and cook. He very much enjoyed having a large family, and frequently entertained large gatherings at his house on holidays. In recent years, Herm has looked forward to occasional casino trips with his nephew David Frechette, breakfasts with his cousin and friend, Mark Nadeau, loving support of his children and step sons, Shawn, Mark, Wally, and their families, and frequent visits from his 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Herman was predeceased by his wife, Annette, his parents, Denis and Germaine, and his siblings, Rod, Elmer, and Greta. He is survived by his sister, Rose Bledsoe, and brother-in-laws Bob Androlevich, Russell Charpentier, Raymond Charpentier, and Richard Charpentier.

Visiting hours are Thursday, May 18, from 5pm to 8pm, at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike, Coventry, CT 06238. Additionally, family and friends are encouraged to join us at a graveside service in Precious Blood Cemetery on Route 33, Memorial Drive / Willimansett Street, in South Hadley, MA, on Friday, May 19, at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are gratefully appreciated sent to the Coventry Volunteer Fire Association, 1755 Main Street, Coventry, CT 06238, where his daughter and son-in-law have worked for 25 years, and who attended him on his final trip from home.
