Obituary for Walter W. Dean

Walter William Dean, 69, of West Willington died October 1, 2017 after a brief illness. Walter attended Lyman High School (Lebanon) and Windham High School. He was employed as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 48 years. He was a member of the Connecticut National Guard, Meriden Division, for many years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Walter, known to friends and family as "Louie," was a talented guitar player, whose musical gifts brought pleasure to many. He loved the outdoors, especially the mountains of New Hampshire. He was admitted to the Appalachian Mountain Club's 4000-Footer Club for climbing the 47 highest peaks in the White Mountains, and was well on his way to climbing the 100 highest peaks in New England. He leaves his wife, Carolyn C. (Knapp) Dean; two daughters, Cheryl Dean of Ashford and Lori Rosebush of Willington; his brother, Robert Dean; and his two sisters, Nancy Dean and Margaret Dean, all residing in CT, and two grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd. (Rte. 195) Tolland, CT 06084.
