Obituary for Jane Kulo (Waz)

Jane Irene Waz Kulo was reunited with her beloved husband Edward on December 19, 2017. Born on December 17, 1925, she had turned 92 this past Sunday and was residing at the Fox Hill Nursing Home in Vernon, Connecticut where she had made many friends and entertained them with her singing. She was predeceased by her three siblings: Joseph Waz, Stanley Waz, and Stella Gula.

She was a devoted wife to Edward Frank Kulo (March 2013) and mother to her two daughters, Lori Mathieu of Coventry, Connecticut and Darlene Jatkowski of Helena, Montana. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Katie and David Mathieu and Zachery, Angela, Quenten, Dilan, and Weston Jatkowski. They all have such fond memories of her playing, laughing, singing, and cooking with them.

Jane, the daughter of John Waz and Bronislawa Maniak, was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts and grew up in Wilbraham and the village of Indian Orchard. She loved to go dancing with her friends and this was how she met Ed Kulo as he remembered her as the “girl with the blue dress across the dancehall.” They married in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts and bought a house in the Crystal Lake portion of Ellington, Connecticut after honeymooning in Niagara Falls and upstate New York. They spent many hours boating on Crystal Lake and the Atlantic Ocean off of Watch Hill, Rhode Island and continuously working on their yard. She loved to garden, grow her flowers and vegetables, and tend to the various animals in and around the yard on West Shore Road.

Jane Irene Waz Kulo was a woman who loved life and had a selfless devotion to her husband, her two daughters, and seven grandchildren. They were the focus of her life.  She cared deeply for them and was immensely devoted to their welfare. She very much loved her children and grandchildren and going to their various activities. She will be missed by all of those who came to know and love her.

The funeral service will be private.
