Obituary for Alice Williams

Alice  Williams
Alice Weisher Williams, age 104, of Coventry, CT, wife of late Clarence E. Williams died in the presence of her family on Jan 18, 2018. She was born at home on the family farm Jan 18, 1914 in Bloomfield,CT. Alice had 2 sisters and 10 brothers. Alice lived in Coventry for over 73 years. Alice lived in her home with her son Frederick until she was over 100 yrs old. She graduated in 1932 from Bloomfield High School. Alice also graduated nurses training in 1935 from The New England Sanitarium and Hospital in Stoneham, MA. and became a registered nurse after completing the state exams. Alice did private duty for one and a half years and came back to Connecticut where she was given a registered nursing degree by reciprocity. Alice married in 1937 to Clarence Williams and had 4 children. Dorothy Supp who now resides in Hudson FL. And 3 sons, Stephen, Frederick and Truman, all from Coventry. Alice has 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. For 10 years Alice had care of foster children. She had as many as 6 at one time. At the age of 55 she took a nursing refresher course at Hartford Hospital and worked part time at the Manchester Memorial Hospital for 10 years. While in high school Alice attended a seminar on the Prophecies of Daniel and Revelation by evangelist Arthur Sanderson. That year Alice and 3 of her brothers were baptized at the Seventh Day Adventist Tabernacle on Washington St. in Hartford, CT. Alice was also a long time member of the Eastern Star Climax Chapter No.98 and the Coventry Grange No.75. A special thank you goes out to the staff and nurses at The Douglas Manor in Windham, CT., for their care and the activities provided for the residents there. Alice enjoyed the music programs, and bingo games. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 between 4pm-6pm at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike, Coventry, CT. A Funeral Home Service will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11am at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Grant Hill Cemetery in Coventry, CT.
