Obituary for Edward C. Stawecki

Edward C. Stawecki, 78, of Ellington, CT, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. He was born on December 15, 1939 in Hartford, CT to the late Helen (Bulawa) and Edward P. Stawecki. During high school, He was very involved with sports including Varsity football and track and graduated from Bulkeley high school in 1958. He joined the Navy after he graduated high school to explore the world and serve his country. Shortly after he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he attended Manchester Community College and graduated with a Criminal Justice Degree. He became a Police Officer in 1967 for the City of Hartford. After retiring, he became a Bail Commissioner and later a Sherriff for the State of Connecticut. Edward and his family enjoyed spending time at their home in Connecticut and also at their beach house in Maine. He was a Eucharistic Minister and also volunteered his time for Hospice care at St. Margaret Mary Church in Maine for many years. He later became a faithful parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Vernon, CT. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW, American Legion and also the Men’s Club at St. Joseph Church. He is survived by his wife, Fernande (St. Amand) Stawecki, his daughters, Beverly Blouin and Rachel Bull and her husband Shawn, Granddaughters, Kayla Bull and Ashley Bull, several nieces, nephews and cousins; and extended Arena Family of Virginia. He is predeceased by his siblings, Richard Stawecki and Florence Young. Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 10am for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church; 33 West Street, Vernon, CT.
