Barclay W. Shackway, 77, of Ellington, CT passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He was born on November 16, 1940 in Dover, New Hampshire to the late Pauline (Davis) and Raymond Shackway, Sr. He was an Army Veteran and also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a former stockcar race driver and loved NASCAR racing. He was an avid basketball fan, especially the UCONN Women’s Basketball team. He enjoyed tending to his garden. He loved going and supporting his grandson’s Mason and Miles Lacrosse games and also loved going to his granddaughter Morgan’s Choir events and band concerts. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, Daughter Melissa McCarthy of Tolland, CT, grandchildren, Mason, Miles, and Morgan, brothers, Raymond Shackway, Jr., of Stafford, Stephen Shackway of Vernon, Brian Shackway of Tolland and Jonathon Shackway of Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Monte Shackway. Relatives and friends may join the family between 4pm and 7pm on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10am at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery in Ellington.
