Obituary for Edward T. "Skip" Scibek

Edward “Skip” T. Scibek, 94, of Ellington, beloved husband of the late Jeanette (Kincman) Scibek, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 25, 2018. He was born Dec. 28, 1923 in Rockville, CT, the son of the late Theodore and Martha Scibek. He was very active in town committees and was a communicant of St. Luke’s Church, Ellington. He was known as “Boppi” to his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and to many others. Edward was a WWII Naval Veteran serving on the USS Cooper in the Pacific Arena and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked 41 years at Pratt & Whitney retiring in 1983 as a Divisional Superintendent. He is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Lynn and George Hallarin of Columbia, CT, Mark and Nancy Scibek of Flower Mound, TX, and Matthew and Lisa-Jo Scibek of Tolland; his grandchildren Michael Hallarin, Erin Kennick and her husband Sean, Daniel Hallarin and his wife Sarah; Melinda Blackwill and her husband Duane, Shannon Scibek, Andrew Scibek and his fiancé Vivian Gu, Jonathan Scibek and his wife Taryne; and Haylee Scibek; his two great granddaughters Marcianna Hallarin and Julianna Scibek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s Church, Ellington. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Rockville. Relatives and friends may join the family Monday, October 29, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville.
