Obituary for Maureen Szarek (Chase)
Maureen G (Chase) Szarek, 67, of Galivants Ferry, SC, beloved wife of 47 years to Leonard F Szarek Jr., passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Grand Strand Medical Center. Born in Rockville, on November 28, 1952, the daughter of Wayne Chase and the late Charlotte (Hopson) Chase.
Maureen grew up in Ellington and married the love of her life, Lenny, shortly after high school. Maureen loved spending time with her grand dogs. She loved and spoiled them with all her heart. She enjoyed trying different things in life. The multitude of bus trips with her friends and casino trips with her sister. She had a love for cruises and would jump at any chance to take a trip. She also played Bingo and Bunco with friends and family. Maureen looked forward to her nightly talks with her father and step-mother. She had many friends and family with whom she could always share a good laugh, a good story, or a good cry. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Leonard Szarek Jr; her son Leonard F Szarek III and his wife Christine Szarek of Ellington; daughter Lisa Szarek-Miller and husband Jerry Miller of Pinson, AL; grandson Seth Szarek; father Wayne Chase and wife Edna Chase of Battelboro, NC; along with her brothers, Robert Chase of Orange, MA; James Chase and wife, Brenda Chase of Stafford Springs, CT; and David Chase and wife, Sheila Chase of Cassatt, SC.
Aside from her mother, Maureen was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Donna Collins and her sister-in-law, Helen Chase.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, from 5 to 7 pm.
