Story shared: Baby's First Easter

I had the privilege of taking care of Adria on most of the major holidays in the past year, but the most memorable of these was her first Easter Sunday. I was working all weekend, and after working the Friday night shift I left the hospital and went to my local Target, there I found treats and decorations that I thought would be fun to share...that evening I came in a little early and got to work turning Adria's room into Baby's First Easter paradise...but by the time all the lights were strung up, the easter basket (which we told Adria the Easter Bunny had delievered to my house by mistake) was in place and her bunny bib was on, the room looked more like the backyard of some low income housing in the deep south...so we changed the theme from "Baby's First Easter Paradise" to "An Arkansas Trailerpark Backyard Easter". When Starr and Erik came in later in the evening, it was a lot of fun watching their reaction when they walked into the room, everyone was smiling and giggling, and even Adria gave a few of her (at the time) "smiles" where she would thrust her tongue in and out excitedly. We sorted through the Easter basket and even gave Adria her first taste of lollipop, which the adults were more excited about than she was. After I had sent Starr and Erik back to the family sleepspace (they had an unflinchingly rigid curfew of 11:30pm that even a major holiday could not budge) a number of the nurses and I got to work staging this picture...because Adria looked SO cute in her little bunny hat and bib, we had to get a photo. So 10 minutes and a few failed attempts later I was able to get her into an almost upright position and a lollipop in her hand...the problem was that she did not yet have the muscle tone to hold it up on her own, so just before this picture was taken, I was next to the bed holing the lollipop up to her mouth...and at the count of 3 I pulled my hand away just in time to get this picture...and just a split second before I got the "hairy eyeball" look from Adria for doing this to her... We all had a great time and Starr was SO excited when we sent along this picture...Happy Easter Mommy and Daddy!!! This is by far and away one of my favorite memories with Adria!!
