Condolences

Condolence From: Ken Allen
Condolence: I'm so sorry for your loss. Coach was a strong and memorable presence during our high school years. I wasn't one of the more athletic members of our class and didn't play on any of Coach's teams, but he still maintained an interest in all of us, encouraging us to participate in gym activities to the best of our abilities. I appreciated that then, and even more now. (Class of 1973)

Condolence: When my brother Ben told me the passing of Coach a shadow passed over my heart. Besides my Father, Coach was a positive influence on my life. May the spirit of the Lord be with your family during this season of sorrow.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1.3-4

Condolence: Our deepest and sincere sympathy to all of Mel's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of great loss. Mel enriched the lives of youth throughout the state of Connecticut by his contributions to boys' basketball. He was a positive role model and a true gentleman.

Condolence From: Norm Cloutier
Condolence: I had the pleasure of playing for Coach 1970-1972. His players learned a great deal about basketball, but more importantly, Coach’s demeanor and overall temperament showed us the right way to teach, how to win and lose, how to be a good sportsman, and more broadly, how developing young men should conduct themselves. At this moment of loss, it may be of little comfort to the Kleckner family, but I want Peg, Pam, Mel, Meg, Amy, and their families to know that important parts of Coach’s legacy are the life lessons of sportsmanship and integrity that he imparted to each of us, and that those lessons live on in future generations. Thank you Coach.

Condolence: I didn't know Coach Kleckner but I sure wish I had. My association with the Kleckner family extends only so far as being a professional colleague of his son Mel. Reading his obituary and the many condolences paying tribute to him, he certainly led a life well lived. A trailblazer in both college and Connecticut High School basketball; service to his country; admired and honored by his colleagues; a lover of the outdoors; a huge circle of friends; and a loving and dedicated family - what more could you want from life? My heart and my prayers go out to the Kleckner family during this time of sorrow. Requiescat in Pace.
