Condolences

Condolence From: Annette Ouellet
Condolence: I rode a Travelers commuter van with Joy for several years. After moving on to another job, we still kept in touch through her acting. Several of the van buddies would get together to attend whatever play Joy was in. My daughters came along also and we all enjoyed her beautiful voice and acting ability as well as her sense of humor. We all will miss her. Annette Ouellet

Condolence: I was shocked and saddened by the news of Joy's passing. I can't even remember when we first met. It has to have been over twenty years ago through the Opera House Players, then St. Martha's. And even though my association with the Players has been sporadic throughout the years, from the first time she and I worked together, I considered her a good friend. That's the kind of lasting impression she made--a trusted confidante, someone who always made you feel comfortable, a truly kind and considerate soul. She will be sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to have known her. My condolences to Joy's family and many friends.

Condolence: I was in many shows at St. Martha's players with Joy. She was always so much fun to be around. She made many of us laugh. We would joke about how I would be in the ladies dressing room before a show to be ironing many of the costumes. usually because the ladies didn't want to do the ironing She will be greatly missed.

Condolence From: Johanna Karbonic
Condolence: I will miss Joy every time The Opera House puts on a new play.
At that time I would get a cheery call from her asking for volunteers to work a play. I will miss her wonderful smile, her great sense of humor, and her answering machine messages. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. I was sorry that I was not able to attend the Memorial Service for her because of a previous commitment but my thoughts and prayers are with her and all her family. I'm sure she is up there looking down on us and giving her blessings to The Opera House Players.

Condolence: Joy was a classmate since elementary school. I remember that in Mr. Lombardo's sixth grade class at Longview, we ate lunch in our classroom. One day Joy's lunch consisted of a mustard and ketchup sandwich. While several of us recoiled at the thought of such a combination, Joy found the flavor delicious, and to the amazement of her classmates, she consumed the entire sandwich with relish!! (pun intended) ;-)

Last Saturday night, I learned of her passing from our classmate Mark Hoffman. My immediate memory of Joy was her ever-constant good and sweet nature--yes, despite the tartness of her sandwich filling!! Yesterday afternoon I dug out and dusted off our EHS 1967 yearbook. Beside Joy's photo is the quotation, "A good natured soul and always was." The quotation verified my memory of Joy and the realization of her gift-- of Joy.

Condolence: I was overwhelmed when I heard that Joy had left the bounds of this earth. She and I were classmates at Ellington High School and best of friends during those four years. We shared many a dream! We lost contact when I moved out of the area, but she has always been a part of my life! Anytime I looked through our Class Year Book, I could recall all of our good times together. At that time she absolutely LOVED the Beatles, especially Paul!!!! She knew all the words to the albums and she'd bring them over and we would sing!!!! I know how much she loved to sing and she hooked me up with her Voice Coach at that time, but I was never as good at it as she was!!! All of you who knew her during her life also need to know the impact she made on others - she will always be in my heart. My sincere condolences to all of her Family and Friends.

Condolence From: Mary Guth and Tom Fulton
Condolence: We cannot express what Joy meant to our family in just a few words. In the eleven years that she helped care for our children, she was the doting "aunt," the fun-loving friend, the rock you could lean on when things were falling apart. She shared our joys and our hard times, as we shared hers, and we will miss her smile, her hugs, her good-night songs, the special treats that always emerged from her tote bag. When she came to us, it truly was "Joy night" at our house.
